Youth Mental Health First Aid Courses West Midlands
Become a Youth Mental Health First Aider
We at Stellar Mind believe that the mental health and wellbeing of young people is vital, which is why we are proud to be able to offer the Youth Mental Health First Aid Courses starting from January 2020!
It is a sad statistic that one in ten young people will suffer from metal health issues and suicide is the leading cause of death for those aged 5-19. With current NHS wait times at an all-time high, it is essential that we can offer the help and support needed to young people who are suffering from mental health issues -this may be to a family member, a friend or a work colleague.
With the influence of social media, the pressures of education and financial burdens and lack of mental health support services, it is of no wonder why so many young people are struggling and don’t know where to turn.
Who is the Youth Mental Health Training Course aimed at?
The Youth Mental Health Training Course has been designed for people who work with, live with or support young people aged 8-18. It aims to empower individuals with the knowledge and resources they need to allow them to support young people with mental health issues and get the them correct level of care that they need. This can speed up a young person’s recovery, stop issues from developing into a crisis, and ultimately save lives.
This is a two-day course that will teach you how to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues. You will learn how to support and interact with a young person in distress and practise improving skills such as non-judgemental listening. By the end of the course you will have the confidence needed to enable you to support the young people in your life and guide them in the right direction to ensure they get the help they need.
